You, Your Hormones and the Moon - Tasmania
6-9 March 2020
This retreat is practical, fun, life changing and nourishing all at the same time.
As women our health and well-being starts and finishes with our hormonal balance. The key to our hormonal balance rests in our diet and lifestyle, how we nurture and nourish ourselves. That may sound a bit pie in the sky when tending the ‘to-do’ list and prioritising the needs of everyone else seems to work, because hey, things get done and we feel good about ourselves. What we don’t realise though, is what we are setting ourselves up for down the track. The expectations we are trying to live up to, both our own and those of others, are simply not sustainable. When rushing and being busy becomes a way of life we start to feel energetically depleted, out of sync and betrayed by our body. We are caught up in a lifestyle that we know isn't good for us. Making poor food and lifestyle choices because we are too tired to do anything else. We start to notice little things, like feeling tired all the time, not sleeping as well, needing that coffee or wine to ‘feel better’ …to get through the morning…the day… the evening. We notice these things but do what we need to do to ‘soldier on’, because that’s what we feel we HAVE to do, and we don’t know how to NOT do that. There is no time or energy to look after ourselves or make better choices because, let’s face it, life feels all consuming. We’re barely coping as it is so, adding anything else to the mix will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. As this continues, and takes its toll, cracks in our health and well-being begin to show up.
You are not alone, in fact you are probably more alone if you don’t feel like this. A recent study showed that 1 in 3 women experience anxiety to an extent that it affects their health and well-being. That’s much higher than men and comes down to the proven effect of ‘distress’ on our hormonal balance. There is something very very wrong with this statistic and the wrongness lies in how and who women feel they need to be to feel OK about themselves in today’s world. It takes a conscious step to break this cycle, step off the hamster wheel and reconnect with our inner wisdom and this retreat is designed to do just that. As women our health and well-being starts and finishes with our hormones. The key to our hormonal balance rests in our diet and lifestyle, how we nurture and nourish ourselves. This weekend is all about stepping out of the busyness, creating some space, going a bit slower, perhaps even stopping. What matters most though is the experience, and below is some feedback from the women who have attended a You, Your Hormones and the Moon retreat. “I am feeling like a new women! I’ve got back into my daily practice and am really feeling the beneficial effects already. I picked up so many gems over the weekend, with the main one being just to keep it simple & be kind to myself. So far it’s working really well!” -Jenny “Thank you both for creating this retreat. It was everything I hoped for, needed, and much, much more. I highly recommend it to women of all ages and life stages. It’s such a gift to yourself to do it. What I’ve come away with is truly invaluable. Wow! With much gratitude.” - Vee “My husband has an unhappy hip at the moment and I used the hip massage and ginger compress therapy on him yesterday with great success. He was astounded with the result. . . looks like I have a new role to play as weekly masseur!” -Leelee Our venue - Atma Darshan Retreat Centre This peaceful 45 acre property has as its backdrop Mother Cummings Peak and the Great Western Tiers. The lovely Western Creek flows through the property and nature surrounds the property. A beautiful earth-rendered strawbale Yoga room called Atma Darshan has been built as a sadhana (practice) space. It is one hour from both Launceston (nearest airport) and Devonport (where the ferry docks). Atma Darshan is at 795 Western Creek Rd, and Parvati is next door at 789. The venue and facilities invite us to appreciate simplicity and enjoy the beauty of nature. Food All food will be vegetarian, much coming from Atma Darshan's amazing bio-dynamic vegetable garden and orchard, and nearby Dalebrook Organics. Superb organic dairy products are supplied by Elgaar Farm, located at nearby Moltema. Accommodation Indoor accommodation is available in the main house or right next door at Parvati: a spacious and very comfortable 5 bedroom compressed earth house. For the outdoor lovers paddock camping is available near the creek. “The medical problems of most women are rooted in hormonal imbalance brought on by doing too much while getting too little physical and emotional nourishment.”
